About Restless Records Crew

Restless Records Crew is an organisation founded & operated by DJ Mizhap (AUS) to encourage the growth of community & educational support within Turntablism in Australia. RRC intends to empower individuals and collectives especially in regard to minority groups, currently organising Women’s Turntablism Workshops for female, non-binary, transgender & LGTBQ+ identifying individuals & communities.

The crew was established in 2021 in Perth, WA. Running workshops, lessons,

organising and producing open-format & HipHop focused live events. Relocating to Melbourne in October of 2023, the RRC has spent time providing 1-on-1 tuition to individuals within the scene looking to upskill in their art form, organising & participating in local DJ battle events with production crew, Break n Bread, as well as developing a strong connection with the local Turntablist scene. The RRC is focused on empowering and evolving the DJ community locally & nationwide

across Australia.

The RRC successfully organised & hosted Turntablism Sessions as described above in Perth for a small ‘Fundamentals’ series (6, 2-hr sessions providing knowledge & hands-on experience and education of the fundamentals of Turntablism), and are now in the process of organising Women’s Turntablism Workshops across Melbourne city & surrounding suburbs, on a regular fortnightly basis, alongside one-off workshops and community events.

DJ Mizhap (Jess Marie, owner/operator of the RRC and locally renowned Turntablist & full-time DJ with over a decade of experience in the industry) sees the potential for a stronger, healthier and more inclusive DJ & Turntablist community Australia-wide and aims to encourage and support this larger community through the Women’s Turntablism Workshops and their initiative.
